Will, it was such a joyous thing to welcome you to Pomona, and also to read your reflections here. I sensed your inner ruffled feathers (thanks hypervigilance!) but also trusted that there's none better than Pomona and her creatures at smoothing these things out. Sometimes I think we just have to turn up in ways that don't meet our high expectations of ourselves, in order to be met and accepted by other beings in whatever shape we're in 💚 Thank you so deeply for taking the time to visit 🙏🏼
The Clare poem you read was "To the Fox Fern" and, despite your questioning, was a perfect poem to hear in that moment.
Thanks for saying so Jez! Turning up and just being met by the moment is something I’m taking away from this encounter. I loved Pomona and my visit continues to work on me, wild, wonderful, resistant and untamed. Let there be more such places!
I so enjoyed reading this piece Will. Finding any plan made these days is met with obstruction and chaos - so your own experience resonated deeply. The prescribed treatment, Pomona, a new friend and the delight of the crafted word seem like best medicine for ailing turmoil. Listened to Rania, was lifted up into unknown spaces with each note and sound. Haven’t started Thorn and Briar yet, but it sits in my pile ready to open. Thank you again. I had written about memory on Substack recently as mine is changing. I love the idea of nurturing certain memories.❤️
Thanks so much for reading and sharing your comment alice-ann! You’ve described what Hania does to me too! :) Looking forward to reading your piece on memory.
I should edit this: because they were of course Sand Martins, not Swallows! 🤦♂️
